WINTER 2012 YOGA WORKSHOPS


Pre-Natal Yoga Workshop

Sunday February 12th 2012   4-6pm Warfield Hall   $25  Pay-in-advance ($30 drop-in)

For all the lovely moms-to-be at all stages of your pregnancy. Come out and learn pre-natal yoga in a supportive, nurturing and relaxing environment as you get to know other moms-to-be while experiencing a deep connection within and with your baby. Pre-natal yoga workshop will cover safe movement patterns for all stages of pregnancy for stretching and strengthening the body especially stabilizing the pelvic floor, safe breathing practices for relaxation and preparation for labour, deep relaxation and centering practices to help you feel grounded and help calm restless/anxious nerves and learn to listen to your body as you fine tune your deep intuition.

As well, this will be a class open for discussion to help answer any questions you may have on safe movement, stretches and activities and more!

*Open to all moms-to-be at all stages of pregnancy, no previous Yoga experience required

*please bring: water, warm layers, pen/notebook, yoga mat, blanket, 2 pillows (or bolsters).

 

Deepening Your Yoga Practice

Sunday March 11  2012    3-6pm       Warfield Hall     $35 pay-in-advance ($40 drop-in)

Take your Yoga practice to the next level by exploring the 8 limbs of traditional Yoga (Patanjali). Move beyond the physical, asana, practice and deepen your understanding of the Pranayama (breathwork), meditation(Dhyana), focus/concentration (Dharana), Philosophies (Yamas/Niyamas)  as well as learn the reasoning behind the physical, asana practice. Workshop will include dfiscussion on Patanjali’s 8 limb Ashtanga Yoga, pranayama practice, asana practice, meditation and relaxation.

*For all levels, no previous Yoga experience required

*Please bring: Yoga mat, pen/notebook, blanket, meditation cushion/pillow, bolster, warm layers, water

 

Postural Alignment Workshop 

 $35 pay-in-advance ($40 dropin)

Do you deal with chronic pain, tight/tense shoulders and neck, wrist/joint pain, knee pain, foot problems: fallen arches, plantar fascitis, lower back pain or pelvic issues such as sciatica? Often these chronic problems stem from habitually holding and using our bodies in misalignment.  

This workshop will include learning a holistic approach to developing proper technique and alignment in your feet, ankles, lower and upper legs, pelvis, core, back, arms, shoulders and neck. As well, we will use Yoga relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and relaxation poses to help release physical and mental tensions that could be contributing to the tension in your body. This workshop is designed for all levels.

Please bring: warm layers, yoga mat, pen/notebook, water/snack 


SPRING 2012 YOGA WORKSHOPS: 


Spring Detox Workshop   with Kerry Turner, RYT  and Melissa Hemphill (Holistic Nutritionist)

Saturday April 21 2012 (all day event!)     9-3pm    Warfield Hall    $80

Treat yourself to a day of cleansing, removing toxins and rejuvenating your body, mind and spirit as you transition from winter to spring. This workshop includes a vigorous flow yoga practice designed to build heat and release toxins, calming meditation session to reduce stress, cleansing breathing techniques and basic body cleansing techniques. As well, we will discuss safe cleansing practices, different cleanses and nutrition and allow time for questions and answers. This workshop is a great way to kickstart a spring cleanse or to simply learn more about living a healthy lifestyle.

Some benefits of a cleanse include; boosting your immune system, decreasing stress, reducing allergies, better energy and focus, restful sleeps, improved mood and overall appearance.

Workshop includes:
