Moving towards a Yoga practice was a natural transtion after growing up training in competitive gymnastics and then spending my college years training in dance. I fell in love with the elegance, strength and depth found in a Yoga practice.

However, it wasn't until after a car accident in 2004 that opened my eyes to the physical, mental and emotionally healing powers of Yoga. Yoga can be anything to anyone, your practice can be as simple as deep breathing, extending warmth and random acts of kindness, a meditation session or as physical as Vigorous Flow class. I believe that anyone can do Yoga and that all it takes is an open mind and open heart to make changes and have the courage to explore oneself and increase one's personal awareness.

Some benefits of a regular Yoga practice can include overall improvement in health, wellbeing including improved posture, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, core strength, focus, mental stability and increased self-awareness. Yoga can also help "off the mat" and help you deal with stress at work, ease communication in relationships, and learn compassion and generosity towards others. Yoga has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress, ease chronic pain, reduce anxiety, insomnia, depression, heart disease, digestive issues, reproductive issues, and inflammatory problems.

My goal is to share my love and passion for Yoga and learn from all the amazing people I encounter along the way.

Currently I am a 200 hour registered Yoga Teacher, with a Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) and a Bachelor of Education. My future plans include research and development in the use of yoga and yogic techniques to reduce stress and stress-related/psychosomatic disorders and pain management. In the summer of 2012 I plan on completing my training and becoming fully certified as a 500 hour Yoga Therapist.

 Namaste
